To learn more about our Audiology services please visit our Audiology website www.cowestaudiologists.com

An Audiologist is the professional who specializes in the evaluation of people with hearing and other ear related disorders. Audiologists evaluate infants, children and adults. An audiologist is trained to refer patients to a physician when a hearing problem needs medical or surgical intervention, administers tests of balance to evaluate dizziness, and to recommend and dispense hearing aids. Audiologists work in private practice, in otolaryngologist’s offices, hospitals, nursing homes, schools, and speech and hearing centers.

Audiologists hold masters or doctoral degrees from accredited universities with special training in the prevention, identification, assessment and non-medical treatment of hearing disorders. They are required to complete a full-time internship and pass a demanding national competency examination. By virtue of their graduate education, professional certification and licensure, audiologists are the most qualified professionals to perform hearing tests, refer patients to medical treatment and provide hearing rehabilitation services.
